School Uniform

We expect all children to wear school uniform, as it helps create a focused learning environment and reinforces the idea that school is a place for education. Wearing uniform reduces issues around peer pressure and competition over clothing, promoting a more inclusive atmosphere and helping to minimise bullying. It also fosters a sense of pride and belonging, strengthening the school community.

Our uniform consists largely of a Jade sweatshirt with a choice of black, jade or white polo shirt teamed with plain black/grey skirts and trousers and plain black shoes/trainers.  Clothing with the school’s logo can be ordered from Pinders Schoolwear directly at www.pindersschoolwear.co.uk  and delivered to school free of charge or direct to you (delivery charges may be applied). You can also purchase these at the Pinders Shop on East Mall in Crystal Peaks.

In the summer term, children may also wear sandals in white, black, grey, or brown. These should be sensible, with no heels or open toes, and must have a back strap for health and safety reasons. Croc-style shoes in the specified colours are acceptable.

Children also have the option to wear a green and white checked summer dress.

Pupils should avoid wearing the following items to school:

  • Jewellery: Only watches and one pair of stud earrings are permitted. Rings, bangles, bracelets, necklaces, and hoop earrings are not allowed.
  • Make-up, nail varnish, or temporary tattoos (transfers).
  • Replica sports team kits.
  • Shoes with high heels or flashing lights.

For safety reasons, jewellery should not be worn during PE lessons. If your child has pierced ears, stud earrings must be removed for PE. We kindly ask that you arrange for any piercings to be done during the summer holidays to avoid missing PE.

Additionally, please do not send your child to school wearing large bows, decorative headbands, or fancy hair clips, as these can be distracting or unsafe during the school day

A copy of the full uniform requirements and details of how to order can be obtained from the school office.  Please clearly label all articles of your child’s clothing, particularly school sweatshirts and t-shirts and P.E. kit with tags or with indelible marker pen on the actual clothing label.  It is also essential for you to label their coats, water bottle, bags and sandwich box where necessary.

P.E. kits consist of a plain white top and black shorts; plain black trainers or plimsolls are also required, though children may occasionally work in bare feet. Children can also have plain black hoodie/school jumper to wear for outdoors. If your child doesn’t have the correct uniform in school, they won’t be able to take part in the physical part of the lesson but will be given PE related work to complete instead.

Our PTA hold regular pre-owned uniform sales where parents can purchase items of uniform for a nominal charge.

We are happy to accommodate modifications to our school uniform policy to enable children and their families to adhere to religious customs and beliefs. We ask that parents contact school first to discuss such modifications. The school will try to be as accommodating as possible but does reserve the right to decline certain requests on health and safety or educational grounds. We will always take advice and refer to DfE guidelines before declining any request.

In addition, adaptations can occasionally be made for children with special educational needs, where necessary. For adaptations to be made, there should be a meeting with the school’s SENDCo and/or Headteacher. We do aspire for all children to share, as far as possible, in the school’s identity and ethos.

Personal Belongings

The school and governors cannot accept any responsibility for the loss or theft of personal items.  Insurance cover is not provided by the Sheffield Authority or the school against loss, theft or damage with regard to personal property of pupils, except where this has been specifically caused by the negligence of the Authority or its employees. Please note that all jewellery should be removed by the child, before any sporting activity.
