Personal development is our commitment to develop our children alongside our broad and balanced curriculum, so that they are ready for their future.

At Abbey Lane School, we place children at the centre of what we do and every decision that we make. We work hard to create a friendly, inviting and stimulating environment for children, built on mutual respect and positive relationships with peers and adults in school, allowing children to thrive.  We have high expectations for all and a determination that children will succeed. We aim to develop well-rounded learners, who are passionate, independent and proud, and ready for the next step of their education.  Pupils will have opportunities to consider the world around them, develop a sense of identity and belonging and reflect on different religions, cultures and beliefs. Children will understand that no discrimination is tolerated and that we show respect to all of those around us through a range of ways in which we promote equality and diversity.  We believe that it is important to support pupils to become self-motivated and resilient individuals who grow into responsible citizens of the world, and are able to grow and adapt to our ever changing community.
